Anybody else think it will be loud and overheat ala 360 with the concave design

I don,t see much vents i know the Ps4 pro had noise issues

The whole idea behind the fixed power/variable clocks design means they know exactly how much power the APU is going to use at maximum load. They can therefore make the cooling system quiet at this maximum load and guarantee it will never get louder. In theory... :D

Are you for real? The games looked so much more detailed and the ray tracing clearly made a big difference as well.

Remember though, the live stream was only 1080p 30fps. So not really giving a great look at the full 4k experience.

The trailers now added to playstions YouTube channel are all 4k and look way better.

The ray-tracing clearly made a big difference did it, where? Please point out where you saw real-time ray-traced reflections and in what videos  I heard it mentioned once.

---

Things I want to know are:
-BC exactly what will I be able to carry over from my current PS4 library
-PSVR will it work? (not had any recent news)
-Peripherals, will they another PS3->PS4 and add a 'security chip' to stop things like steering wheels from working?
-How robust is this new controller? being a heavy-handed sod don't like the sound of these adaptive triggers
-Why did they purposely hide what ports are on the back?

Thing about it tho, I'm willing to bet it's going to be loud again. That config just isn't conducive to airflow at low rpm.

I was getting one at launch along with the Xbox.
But,
Not liking the design much.
Looks like it’s something the Japanese will love design wise!
Can it lay flat?.
How loud is it going to be?
Backwards compatibility on pre existing titles?
GT7 still had that dam awful tire screeching.

The event felt a bit, maybe more so because it was pushed back so peoples anticipation levels were higher. Most of the games did nothing for me. GT7 looked lovely as it HZD and little devil.

Leading with GTA just felt like a cheap cash grab and I don't understand why show some of the titles like Goodbye Volcano High either unless it was to pad stuff out. From all the teases I was more shocked that Pragmata wasn't a Kojima game than anything else. Felt like it had him written all over it.

The console design neither wows me or disgusts me. I did think it was cool it wasn't just another "box" though. If I grab one it'll most likely be the digital only one as I've not bought a physical game in years now. Would definitely like an all Black one though.

So predictable though, maybe they and you should get a job at Sony R&D see if you can come up with something better :)

You could tap directly in to these peoples' brains whilst asleep and get their absolute ultimate design, literally every single colour, dimension, material, all 100% spot on and the second they see it they'll go "ugly". Some people are just hardwired to shun everything regardless of what it looks like, it somehow makes them elite or something, I dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Of course they're all gonna buy it anyway so whatever.

I like it, it's certainly something different, and can definitely lay flat. You can tell just by looking at the pictures, it has a flat surface on the left side which will become the bottom, with the disc slot on top.

This image seems to go the other way, but I'll be very surprised if the disc slot goes at the bottom:

The black edition looks more like it'll get my money though:

I wouldn't worry about the PS5's cooling - it's got enough surface area.... JESUS

That can't be right, look at the size of the controller it's huge even compared to the Xbox one and we know big they are. There's no way it's that big, have real dimensions been released I don't believe they have?

Not here
I expect them to make the effort at least yes. I know it's not easy, especially the PS3, but if Microsoft can do it with the Series X and actually enhance old games, then why can't Sony put the effort in?

Microsoft has years of software emulation experience because of Hyper-v, which BC runs on a modified version of.

Sony doesn't really have any close to that form of emulation. Their only option would be to asked a 3rd party company like Vmware to help them but that would cost too much money and not worth it.

Somewhere in the middle.
I'm one of these people who is just greatful for something new and interesting. Ive had great games on my PlayStation consoles over the years and I'll happily buy another.

I'll probably get an xbox series x too.

Don't be so Hyper critical on things until ya see them first hand. No point in getting yourselves so worked up lol.

They have also stated there focus is on bringing next gen features into games from the get go, Sony don't focus on BC.

It's not hurt them over the years so it's not likely to change.

They usually do pretty good at supporting older consols for abit after anyway

but it's pretty clear Sony will have the best next gen exclusives again because Microsoft keeps pandering to old consoles
